Hello, my name is Mat, and I’m here because I’ve had enough of Myspace.

For the past year I’ve been using Myspace blog to update people on the simply outrageous events of my screwball, hair-raising experiences living in Bangkok (yes, the one in Thailand). Ok, that’s half true. I live in Bangkok, but my life isn’t really that exciting. However, my blogs are apparently entertaining and well-written, so rather than post them on a site devoted to idiot American teenagers, I thought I’d up the age-range of my audience a bit and come here instead. And people who don’t know me are occasionally interested in reading my blogs too, so you never know, you might get something out of it.

I have to say I think probably the first thing pretty much anyone will notice about this blog is it is… a bit coarse. I pull no punches in my writing. I don’t do this intentionally, but I think it is one of its perverse attractions. It isn’t a nice friendly blog about the wonderful and exotic country of Thailand that’s so amazing and different and beautiful – well it is a little bit sometimes – or the amazing experience of teaching a valuable life skill to those less fortunate than myself. It’s a blunt, honest stream of consciousness of a guy on a round-about journey towards somewhere or something for some possible reason, who just happens to live, by no fault of his own (er… well maybe) on the other side of the world, coming to grips with the philosophical implications of all that lies before him. Or so he likes to think.

It’s life in Thailand by an Englishman who lives and works there, trying to juggle the divergent moral paths that he’s on and somehow come out on top in some form or another. It’s not really about Thailand, it’s not really about teaching. What is it really about? Well that’s up to you to figure that out.

We’re hosting a Thai high schooler this year in America and you’ve given me some good insight. He’s really clueless about life in general and his parents have done a horrible job in raising him. He lied on his application and we’ve had to not only foot the bill for everything with this child but
teach him how to think for himself-no analytical skills whatsoever!

Keep up your blog and hope your life is good~
